Tremont is a village in Tazewell County, Illinois. It was founded in 1834 and served as the County Seat until 1850. Abraham Lincoln made many appearances as a lawyer at the Tremont Courthouse. Tremont has many local traditions, including the Tremont Turkey Festival, which draws thousands to the village every summer with its unique attractions.

Tremont District Library – The Tremont District Library started as a small community library in 1917. After moving into a new building and many renovations, the library of today offers a huge collection of materials as well as meeting rooms and work areas for residents of Tremont.

Tremont Turkey Festival – The Tremont Turkey Festival began in 1966 to raise money for the creation of a public pool. The festival of today continues to raise money for community improvements, offering talent shows, foot races, music, and of course, turkey throughout the weekend.

Tremont Community Unit School District – Tremont Community Unit School District is a state-recognized school. It has received the Bright Star A+ Award, which recognizes Illinois’ schools for academic excellence and places the district in the top 5% of all Illinois school districts.
